For all of the movie mavens out there, here is the Etsy find for you! Retrowhale has conceived a truly unique concept by offering a customized set of four wood panels. The subject? Your favorite directors! You can now have a pop cartoon painting of Stanley Kubrick (and a constant reminder of Clockwork Orange) on your wall, or the Coen Brothers (oh how we all love Fargo), or Spike Jonze (and the Wild Things), or Wes Anderson (how can you forget Richie and Margo. I can't. My boyfriend and I were the Royals for Halloween). 

The set is $95, a small penny for original intelligent art. Each wood panels is

6" x 6" and you can collect a total of 30 different directors. They images are printed with high quality pigment inks and then painted by hand with india ink and liquid acrylic.

This artist continues to rock the art world with her unique vision and subtle paintings of women on wood. I think I am subliminally attracted to paintings on wood, as this is the second artist I have presented in this style. The texture and tone of painting on wood is interesting and it allows Audrey to use the natural color of the wood as her flesh tones, while painting the highlights with white. Her pieces are beautiful and her voice is loud. Her influences are both manga comics and Art Nouveau.
