PRIZE: $20,000
DEADLINE: Jan. 31, 2010
I thought I would continue the documentary theme from my last artist op post. This year, 2010, marks the 20th anniversary of the Dorothea-Lange - Paul Tayor documentary prize. Dorothea Lange is one of the first photographers that I really studied. She was a member of the FSA (Farm Security Administration) photography group, a pool of photographers who were hired by the govt to document during the depression. Her image of the destitute mother with child is iconic. This prize is offered to a documentary photographer and writer in an early stage of a documentary project.
